Brian Chastain is the founder of Market Wise, starting the business in Farmer City, IL in 1992.  He's been involved with agriculture his entire life.  Born and raised in south central Indiana, he is a graduate of Purdue University in Agriculture Economics.  Brian's production experience includes farming with his grandfather, along with custom farming and working in a 1,500 head feeder to finish hog operation.

His career in commodity marketing started in 1983 with a division of what is now INTL FC Stone, called Farmers Marketing Resources (FMR).  In the late 80's Brian left FMR and ultimately helped to form Pioneer Hi-Bred International's commodity marketing division called PHI Marketing Services.  It was during his time at PHI that they recruited Jon Day away from FMR to join PHI Marketing Services, where they became work associates and great friends.

In 1992 Pioneer changed directions and decided to "deemphasize" the direct to the farmer consulting services.  This is when Brian struck out on his own and founded Market Wise.

For the next decade Brian and Jon remained close friends enjoying many hunting trips and doing things together.  During this time Jon worked for Pioneer, Growmark, and Cargill.  In 2002 Jon rejoined Brian at Market Wise becoming partner a few years later.

Since then they have added a crop insurance agency to the business and operate offices in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Minnesota.
